There are, in fact, three main types of avocado known worldwide :

-Persea americana var. drymifolia: Abstract, Criollo avocado of Mexican race (CAMR) (Persea americana var. drymifolia) is native to Mexico.

-Hass avocado: The Hass avocado is a cultivar of avocado with dark green–colored, bumpy skin. It was first grown and sold by Southern California mail carrier and amateur horticulturist Rudolph Hass.

-Maluma (Aguacate Maluma): Maluma is a commercial cultivar of avocado that was discovered in South Africa. It is marketed simply as ‘Maluma’, but sometimes also as ‘Maluma Hass’ referring to its similarity in appearance to the well-known Hass cultivar.

The avocado is a tree originating in the Americas which is likely native to the highland regions of south-central Mexico to Guatemala. It is classified as a member of the flowering plant family Lauraceae. The fruit of the plant, also called an avocado, is botanically a large berry containing a single large seed.

Avocados are a source of vitamins C, E, K, and B6, as well as riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, and potassium. They also provide lutein, beta carotene, and omega-3 fatty acids. Avocados contain high levels of healthy, beneficial fats, which can help a person feel fuller between meals.
